  • $bangen's 4banger revival!

Spent the long weekend turning wrenches and getting filthy. The hurt motor is out of the ranger and the freshy is in. Need to order a clutch then I'll be making tractor noises again!
it's been around two years since it's been on the street.

I melted a piston in the old one. The new engine is my spare motor. it's got arp head studs, a ranger can and an adjustable cam gear. It's going to be in there until I get the other engine back together.

I'll stick with what I have, I've got spare parts to last a long time.

yada yada the bitch runs! over the past two or three weekends I finally got the ranger up and running good with the spare motor and she's almost ready to hit the street. it does look like the seals are bad on the old turbo and the header has cracked and been rewelded so many times it looks like Frankenstein's monster. Good news is I was recently given a fresh ebay header and a fresh mystery turbo that should bolt right up with minor changes to the intercooler piping. So by next weekend she should be smoke free and road worthy. It's still ugly as sin, but it runs.

Very cool, is it normal for the headers to crack on those?

About time you gave that shitbox some attention. Is that extra fuel pump functioning?

not at all. the new turbo got rid of the smoke. Drove it around a bit today and the engine and turbo are great. The only problem now is the clutch isn't happy. I need to get a new clutch, and flywheel. Also the master and slave cyl may need to be replaced. I'll explain later why that's aproblem.
