I have, on an endurance race turbo setup. The weld/manifold outlasted the engine. It may be that the casting is fairly dense on exhaust manifolds, but we cleaned it up with a wire wheel and mig'd it without issue.

Got some Festiva stuff done Sunday. The engine bay is cleaned up and I'm starting to remove useless (to me) parts.

Now for the "Church Up"... I used 66 Autocolor for this: paint, clear and hardener all-in-one. You shake it, pull the red cap off and pop it to release the clear/hardener into the paint and go to town.

Laid down pretty smooth. I'm going to lightly wet sand it and hit it with a couple more tomorrow.

On another note... Festivas are REALLY easy to work on!

I've MIG welded steel to cast iron many times without issue...

would I trust it to fly me to the moon? no...

would I trust it to hang a turbo? yes because I've done it a few times

Sooooo... Ran into an issue. The Kia timing cover and BLOCK appear to have different bosses for the Crank Position Sensor. I was wondering, "why is my Escort motor retarded?" and realized maybe it was me.

It was me.

So greenbullitt and I are going to strip down the Kia motor tomorrow and, well, I'll be building ANOTHER BP. I ordered some ARP head studs and an MLS head gasket kit. Hopefully, the valves are still good and we just need exhaust guides. I'll have the head, crank and block to Eddie @ Arlington machine in a couple days.

I want to see how the paint turned out.

Looks like a great way to spray a engine bay.

The paint turned out great all things considered. I'll have better pics soon enough.

The project got held up by crap like buying a house and remodeling the stupid thing. We're back on track though.

Turning my garage into a Festiva heaven...

Need air right? Fixed that.

Gotta see too! New lighting:

The blue car was rolling storage for some time. Finally moved the Festy out and pulled everything out of it:

Did a quick inventory and everything is still around...

It will come together a LOT sooner now that the weather doesn't suck.

What years of Festiva share the same motor as a Miata 1990-1993 (1.6L and maybe 1.8L) ?

I've had my Miata for a few years now and I'm starting to dig into the motors a bit now.

None, Festivas came with 1.3L SOHC engines.
