  • Amazon Kindle question

My Girlfriend reads a lot and I was thinking about getting her a Kindle, but I have no idea how they work or if they are worth the money.

Any input will be greatly appreciated. Are there other products like the kindle that are as good or better?

I got my wife a Nook Wi-fi from Barnes&Noble. She loves it. And she can share e-books and buy e-books that are not just from Barnes&Noble. I think the Kindle just limits you to purchasing e-books from Amazon only.

Not getting any responses on the "other" site?

My mom has one and loves it. I prefer the paper.

I hear IPad is the way to go. I spend most of my time on my IPhone reading books I've downloaded!

Staring at a Kindle for hours doesn't kill your eyes like staring at an iPad for hours will.

I have one and I prefer the e-paper over the iPad screen (probably because I'm a broke dick).

Weight can be an issue, the iPad comes in at a little over a pound. Best Buy has Kindles in stock, have her go pick one up and see how she likes the feel.

Hop on over to Amazon and compare the prices of the e-books versus their physical copies and see if she reads enough to justify the price.

hows that? ipad back light is adjustable.
Ipad does everything a kindle does plus some.

My wife has had a kindle for about 1 yr and she loves it. She use to buy about 4 books a week and now downloads them from amazon, but you also get FREE internet on them, we have been able to surf the web on it. Well worth the money
