How can I see my C: to see SSD utilization?

      1. Device Manager
      2. Disk drives(click on arrow)
      3. double click on drive displayed
      4. Volumes Tab
      5. Populate
      6. Click on drive that is populated below Volume in the box
      7. Now click on Properties

Easier if you can find My computer icon on your desktop, or thru Start menu.

Every few hours isn't necessary. I'd set all that to do it every few days. But that's for you, I do it every few months cause I just stay out of the nasty shit. Even then, most of the time no problem is reported. Just gotta use your brain on the web. If there is a question in your mind as to whether or not its safe, don't do it. Read up on what it is you want to do, find alternate routes, etc.

Matt, that 2tb drive is way more than is needed now, unless you have lots of pr0ns stashed on another drive your like to put on it for faster access.

Should be where you saw "Control Panel" when you clicked on start menu. Size of SSD would depend on how large of HD you have now and how much free space you have. SSD that was posted above from newegg is very good, but depends if you need that size or bigger.
Hey, sorry I wasn't able to call you earlier. After I replied I got a call that was putting out a fire, then another, then a kid's soccer game, then dinner, etc.

Here is what I show when I drill down:

No PrOn, but my wife's Iphone 6 has like 12,000 pics and videos backed up on my PC that I need to transfer over to the external.

While that does help, most any site can get infected. Its happened here several times over the years. Its not always their fault. Plus other random people like your wife and kids use the computer. Or do they? If they do, that's just adding more onto it. Porn may be a big one, but its definitely not the only way to get malware and viruses.

You're below 50% free space, this is the main contributing factor to the speed of your lappy. Move as much as possible off the drive, defrag and it'll speed up some, but you'd still be wise to get an ssd.

Also, if you back up phones quite a bit, that will chew up storage as welI. I just freed about 35-40GB removing very old backups. Or you can move them to external.

                      EDIT:

I would TURN OFF your indexing on that drive. Will help speed up. Uncheck the box that has "Allow this drive to....index....."

About to order that new SSD, over the last week my keyboard hasn't been working properly. I have to hit certain keys 3-4 times before it logs. What could be the culprit here and how can I fix?

Probably a new keyboard lol. Just plug in a walmart keyboard into the USB slot.

I forgot what direction this thread went but I'd also format your computer and then run the "maintenance cycle". Run Ccleaner registry cleanup, (it still finds things on a new installation) and defrag.

If you don't format, then run the longer maintenance cycle with includes Ccleaner, Defrag, malware bytes, and a good antivirus like Bitdefender. Make sure it runs the full system scan. Doing all that, moving all unnecessary stuff to a different drive, and your new SSD will make a night and day difference.
