Every few hours isn't necessary. I'd set all that to do it every few days. But that's for you, I do it every few months cause I just stay out of the nasty shit. Even then, most of the time no problem is reported. Just gotta use your brain on the web. If there is a question in your mind as to whether or not its safe, don't do it. Read up on what it is you want to do, find alternate routes, etc.Originally posted by SMKR View PostOk, now that Im on the laptop, here is what I am doing every few hoursWH

Hey, sorry I wasn't able to call you earlier. After I replied I got a call that was putting out a fire, then another, then a kid's soccer game, then dinner, etc.Originally posted by Rafa View PostYou should have an icon that says "My Computer" on desktop. Double click that. If you do not have that icon on desktop, go to start, and you should see "My Computer or Computer". Should be where you saw "Control Panel" when you clicked on start menu. Size of SSD would depend on how large of HD you have now and how much free space you have. SSD that was posted above from newegg is very good, but depends if you need that size or bigger.

Here is what I show when I drill down:

No PrOn, but my wife's Iphone 6 has like 12,000 pics and videos backed up on my PC that I need to transfer over to the external.Originally posted by Tx Redneck View PostMatt, that 2tb drive is way more than is needed now, unless you have lots of pr0ns stashed on another drive your like to put on it for faster access.

While that does help, most any site can get infected. Its happened here several times over the years. Its not always their fault. Plus other random people like your wife and kids use the computer. Or do they? If they do, that's just adding more onto it. Porn may be a big one, but its definitely not the only way to get malware and viruses.Originally posted by SMKR View Posthonestly I don't do porn, I do ESPN, CBS Sports, DFWM, and some fishing forum surfing...WH

Also, if you back up phones quite a bit, that will chew up storage as welI. I just freed about 35-40GB removing very old backups. Or you can move them to external.

 EDIT:

I would TURN OFF your indexing on that drive. Will help speed up. Uncheck the box that has "Allow this drive to....index....."Last edited by Rafa; 10-04-2015, 04:00 PM.

Probably a new keyboard lol. Just plug in a walmart keyboard into the USB slot.

I forgot what direction this thread went but I'd also format your computer and then run the "maintenance cycle". Run Ccleaner registry cleanup, (it still finds things on a new installation) and defrag.

If you don't format, then run the longer maintenance cycle with includes Ccleaner, Defrag, malware bytes, and a good antivirus like Bitdefender. Make sure it runs the full system scan. Doing all that, moving all unnecessary stuff to a different drive, and your new SSD will make a night and day difference.WH
