what am i looking at as far as getting a remote start on a 2013 4 door wrangler? i didnt get power locks and all that as the doors and roof are off most of the spring/summer/fall. its an auto if it makes a difference. depending on cost i would also entertain some type of alarm.

If you leave it on when you turn the car off, and it stays on when you start the car normally, it should stay on just the same when you remote start it.

Heat and/or AC will turn on when remote started if installed correctly as that is the whole point of a remote start system. Like jluv said, if you have analog controls you must set them when you exit the car. If you have auto temp, it should choose heat or AC. There may be a prius or something that does not work right but who cares.

You can also connect heated seats, rear window defrosters, etc to work as well.

Do the factory GM units have a setting to do that or only the aftermarket ones?

I'm not sure how the factory GM ones work except to say that they can only run for 10 minutes, and can only be started twice before you have to go out and cycle the key to reset the unit.

nope. dont think any GM remote.start.allows.you to start car and run heater. my Equinox does not do this function.

So if you have knobs for the climate control, and the heater is on when you get out, is there a little gremlin that jumps out and turns it off before you start it again? And even if it's digital controls, are you saying it resets to off every time you stop and start the vehicle?

                    That doesn't make sense.

Most cars have multiple ignition wires that need to be connected for the entire vehicle to be turned on. In some cars, you can have the engine on, radio off (nice if you have an alarm with a glass mic so the alarm does not trigger when the vehicle is started), and hvac on. In most, we power up everything.

I know for a fact a loaded 2009 GMC 3500 will run the heater/AC and heated seats depending on outside temp when remote started. My 12 F250 does as well.

On my F250 with auto controls the comp decides what to do when remote started based on outside temp while remote started regardless of how you left it set and then once you put the key in it defaults back to however it was set last time you turned it off.

That's pretty cool. Mine just stays how I left it last. 2005 w/ digital controls.

Sounds like digital controls but not "auto climate controls".

I can set mine to the temp I want and it will go to that. But if it's cold out and I have it set to 80 when I get out, and then the next time I go to start it, if it's hot outside, it still goes to 80. And the seat heaters are either on or off, based on the last time I got out. They don't know to stay off if it's warm out.

But yes, if I have it set at 72, for example, it will either do heater or A/C to get it there, depending on outside temp. Maybe I was misinterpreting the post above. I took it as his would turn the A/C or heat on regardless of the temp setting he picked. I guess that doesn't make sense, after all. It's probably just the same as mine.
