I want Valverde to blow the save tonight, then the game to go to 23 innings with the Yankees winning. And tomorrow I want Valverde to blow teh save again, and it to go another 17 innings, and at that point it doesn't really matter who wins.

The Yankees will have their 2, 3, and 4 hitters up in the bottom of the ninth against Valverde, and it's looking like it'll just be a 1-run game...

He is damn multiple gold glover at the position, how can there be any argument.

Because it's a subjective award, based on opinion rather than statistics. Young won a Gold Glove at SS the last year Beltre won one, would you rather have him at SS over Andrus (who hasn't)?

He needs to be productive for a few more years before I can say he's the best in franchise history though, you have to give Toby Harrah some respect. In his era Harrah was one of the best players in the game.

Or Buddy Bell? He won 6 Gold Gloves at third, all with the Rangers.

You mean he's better than Royce Clayton, Mike Lamb and Todd Zeile? Between Dean Palmer and Blaylock we never really had a 3rd baseman until Young moved over. Before that it was Steve Buechele, a great player but nowhere near the same category as Beltre.

I was referring to the comparison to Young. i am not saying he is the best the Rangers have ever had.

Jubbs was talking about how statistically, Beltre is the best 3B the Rangers have ever had, comparing him to those that topped that list prior to Beltre (Young wasn't even on it). And yes, they were talking about his defensive ability as well, given that Young was a defensive liability on 3rd.

Kind of goes along with what the TBS announcers were saying during the game yesterday.

I agree he's a better third baseman than Young but, statistically, it's not a landslide like I keep hearing. Which statistics were they using? They both have .957 career fielding at third base; Young had a .950 this year and Beltre a .965, but we're talking about 1/4 of a season for Young and 2/3 of a season for Beltre.

The talent wasn't the issue, the fact that he looks like an idiot was. And he still looks like an idiot when he goes down on his knee to swing (but he hasn't done that today ).

He's a good player, I still don't think he's a better fielder than Young, not an overall better hitter than Young, but he's definitely got more power than Young. I think they could've gone with Beltre as the DH and kept Young at third and been just fine, except Beltre couldn't (wouldn't?) have been as versatile. But that's just my uninformed opinion.
