At what point does everyone stop being a goddamn pussy about football? Ten years ago, all of this nonsense would have been a non-issue. Hell, five years ago it would have been a non-issue.

I don't disagree with the pussy rules stuff, aka the Brady Rule, an many others. And I also agree with the pocket/runner assessment, and I didn't even see the hit in question. That said, the rules are the rules, and Harrison knows better. It's just a shame that we now have to have all these rules to protect the players. If they were on a 1965 pay scale, the rules wouldn't exist. Owners push harder for player protection rules than players do, simply because they want to protect their investment. I understand their point, but it's ruining the sport. Football is a violent sport. Period. No surprises

Then put these protections on running backs then, as McCoy was nothing but a running back at the point when Harrison launched into him.Originally posted by Nash B. At what point does Harrison stop leading with his helmet into another player's head?Originally posted by The Geofster View PostYou wouldn't have been able to stop yourself if you were going in for the hit and he dumps the ball at the last second. Then again, you don't see many 4' players in the NFL either.
Look, I don't know how many times I have to ask this question. At what point does McCoy become a running back and not fall under the protection of these rules? There is a reason teams play 11 on the field but have 30 backups: Motherfuckers get hurt.
If McCoy was Vick, would Harrison have gotten the same punishment? I honestly think there wouldn't have been a flag on that play if it were Vick instead of McCoy. Why? Because Vick is a scrambler -- more of a runner, therefore, it would be expected for him to have been treated as a running back in that situation.
Here's my other question that nobody seems to want to answer: If these protections apply 100% of the time, why wasn't Scott Saxson flagged for hitting Roethlisberger at the knee, then falling on top of him? You cannot hit a QB in the knee anymore, remember? The same bullshit protection rules do not apply, and it's plain as fucking day to see.

Also the fact that he keeps doing it over and over.Originally posted by asphaltjunkie View Postdude....it's not that he hit McCoy, it's how he hit him thats getting everyone in a tizzy.... if he had lowered his shoulder and speared him to the ground, then it wouldn't have been called, imho. it's the helmet to helmet shit that's pissing everyone off....
