dude....it's not that he hit McCoy, it's how he hit him thats getting everyone in a tizzy.... if he had lowered his shoulder and speared him to the ground, then it wouldn't have been called, imho. it's the helmet to helmet shit that's pissing everyone off....

I still stand by my belief that if a QB is out of the pocket and appears to be running, he's fair game. If that isn't the case, than Saxson should have been flagged on his hit to Roethlisberger.Originally posted by slow99 View PostGeof, even Tomlin admitted it was a dirty hit.

Sue?Originally posted by SouthernSVT View PostIt was McCoy this time, but the point is that this is a frequent thing to happen. Repeat offenders are supposed to be punished, look at what they did to Sue. What Sue did was dirtier, i'll admit that all day, but Harrison has been doing this for years before Sue was even in the NFL. With very little punishment. You think Harrison cares about a fine? He makes it back in a couple games.

What the fuck are you talking about? Are we even watching the same play? I am honestly wondering, because:Originally posted by The Geofster View PostWell because I have a stick and balls between my legs, not a sandy canal.
1. He didn't hit him on the chin.
2. At what point does a QB cease being a QB and become a runner? That question has not been answered. If you intentionally throw the ball away outside of the pocket and don't get called for grounding (so long as the ball crosses the line), why are you still completely protected when you're out of the pocket? Maybe I should say partially protected because it seems that these rules just don't apply to some players.
1. Yes he did.
2. McCoy completed the pass, what is that intentional grounding bullshit you're talking about?
Clearly you're thinking of some other play because so far you have not correctly described the sequence of events. Here, watch it again.

Ward plays tough. Sometimes it's a little dirty, but it's not nearly as frequent. It's also not as flagrently excessive. There's a difference between someone who plays tough, and crosses the line on occasion. And someone who goes out there to play cheap, every chance he gets.Originally posted by The Geofster View PostDon't forget Hines Ward!!

I didn't say that. You know exactly what I'm saying. You don't take that much force to knock down half the weight/size. And who cares about Brady? He cries about getting flicked, let alone getting laid out helmet to helmet.Originally posted by The Geofster View PostBut what you're saying is that if a QB is Roethlisberger's size -- and I don't think that many are -- then it's ok to not follow the rules?

James Harrison is about McCoy's size, if not shorter, albeit much stronger. He's a small dude. But what you're saying is that if a QB is Roethlisberger's size -- and I don't think that many are -- then it's ok to not follow the rules? I never said what Harrison did was within the rules -- I simply am making a point that these rules are for pussy and that they alienate some and benefit a certain group of players.Originally posted by Trip McNeely View PostHe is dirty and is proud of it. He could have just as easy hit him in the numbers and given the same effect. Its not like McCoy is Roethelsburgers size. And for the record I dont like McCoy, but that was bullshit.
Edit: Tom Brady is roughly the same size as Roethlisberger. Funny how that works, isn't it?
