    Raiders release Stanford Routt

    Possible replacement for Newman? Had somewhat of a down year last year, but before that had just became the #1 CB on OAK. He's the reason they let Asomugha go last year. Now the new ownership is cleaning house, and rebuilding. He is one of the first cuts, although it was more of a salary cap move than a poor play move. I would rather take a chance on a young fast CB with potential like Routt than get an old worn out punk like Finnegan. We don't need Andre Johnson beating up all our new CBs. I would still probably preffer to draft a CB in the 1st round, but there is always the possibility that the best 2 or 3 CBs are gone by pick 14. We could also use our 1st pick on a guard or pass rusher if we get a veteran CB.

    Pittsburgh would be a good place for him since our corners are mediocre, at best, but the cap is a huge issue for them this year.

      The cap is a huge issue for the Cowboys this year too. They are going to have to build the team with quality picks or be screwed for another 2 or 3 years.

      This guy isn't going to demand HUGE money, but probably enough to hurt the Cowboys chances.

          Pick up a rookie CB in the draft, skip this dude and pick up the gaurd from the saints instead.

            I would be more than happy with that scenario. Use round 1 on a CB, round 2 on a pass rushing LOLB.

                      Newman might actually do well on a new team. Could be what he needs to get his confidence back, might just need a fresh start.
