I predict the Blackhawks. They haven't been on fire lately, but they are the Champs. Now that the playoffs are here, I bet they turn it up a notch. Hawks and Stars later on would be an exciting series.

Stars made a trade today to shore up the D. They acquired Kris Russel from Calgary in exchange for Jyrki Jokipakka, prospect Brett Pollock, and a conditional draft pick. I don't think this puts them over the top, but our D had been sliding in the last month and a half or so. I think this team as it sits, get's through the first round and possibly the second into the conference finals. I'm an optimist, but I don't think we take that next step until next season.

It's a great sign of a good team to see how they respond after a loss. We have not lost 2 in a row all season.

Until yesterday. The Devils and Islanders finally got us. We have a couple of games left this week before getting a 5 day break. It couldn't have come at a more perfect time.

On another note, I was on hand for the NYE game. What a blast that was to attend. They gave up the first goal, then scored 5 in a row. Fun evening!

And they keep doing so. I was curious how they'd fare once they got into the division. The Wild were good the other night, but the Stars prevailed in OT. Next up, Buffalo tonight. Couldn't have asked for a better start to the season. We've got a little house money now, so even when we finally hit a rough patch, it won't kill us in the standings too bad.
