Ate there again last night. Sat on the patio, which was great. They did cut the fans off too early for my taste, and switched to the fire lantern things, so it got pretty warm there at the end. This was just before dusk. Our waiter was slow. We ran out of drinks and salsa for some time, and then had to ask for more when he came back, and then he was gone again for a while before he came back with it. I had the steak and relleno ($19), and it was pretty awesome. Very flavorful. My ol' lady had the beef street tacos ($13.50) and the meat was dry and they were nearly flavorless, especially when compared to my meal. I personally think the street tacos could have benefited from fresh onion instead of tiny bits of cooked onion. They supposedly had roasted jalapeno in them, but we could neither see nor taste it in there. We had a couple drinks, and they were pretty good, but small for the price. We both left there pretty stuffed. I'm sure I will go back, although there are 3-4 Mexican places I like better, all of which are cheaper.
It's got an upscale atmosphere without being too loud, stuffy, or crowded. There's actually plenty of room between tables. Very modern look, nice patio. Lots of cool sounding stuff on the menu, which I'll have to try one at a time as I return. Good portions. Decent salsa. The chips are a little tough. A very cool place to impress a date or a client. Not cheap for Mexican, but not terrible, either. Don't get the steak street tacos. I bet the pork belly ones are probably pretty good.

The little lady, myself and a few other couples hit this place last night. Great food, atmosphere and service. We will be back!

I only saw the guy once, at the North Star location (Burnet Rd/183), but I almost told him he needed to have some kind of oversight on his managers. You can definitely find a lot of stuff on the menu that is priced very reasonably and comparably, that's a lot better tasting/fresher/actually made in-house than most other places. The tabs I quoted also had 2 or 3 margaritas on them ($10-12 each). If I'm going to pay full price at Texas de Brazil, it's ~$100/2 people. I'd rather go to Mi Dia and leave with almost a whole dish of leftovers.
I grew up in Austin, and worked at some of the trendiest and most popular Tex-Mex places down there, and of course frequented the others. I'd rather eat at Mi Dia than the trendiest or cheapest places in Austin. When it's good, the food at Matt's El Rancho MIGHT be able to give this place a run, but it's wildly incosistent. Trudy's is great for Tex-Mex, and cheap with cheaper, better drinks, but horrible service EVERY TIME. Overall, I'd still pick Mi Dia.
Just my .10
WHAT I've never had shitty service there. Not sure if being married to the owners neice plays a part in it though.

I'm game. I'm in N. FW, so I'm in the same boat. We can always wait if no one else can make it so that we don't have to make the drive through all the construction. Up to you, man.

Hotrod, or anybody else game? I can go whenever, but it will take me a bit to get over there from Haslet.
