Pecan Lodge in Dallas

Last few times I've eaten at Hard 8 their brisket was going for $13.50/lb I think. It's pretty good brisket, but the $6+ difference at Pecan Lodge is worth it. Their brisket is several rungs above Hard 8. Good enough to where I forget to use their damn sauce that I also love. Don't care for Hard 8's sauce at all. Reminds me of Thanksgiving for some reason and it weirds me out.

I would be curious to know what the price per pound was. Last time I was in Lockhart, I bought about 5 pounds of brisket from Blacks BBQ for a little under $100 (somewhere south of $100 anyway) and I want to say it was selling for $16-18 a pound. It's been a while but it was some damn good brisket and it lasted a week with me giving some up to family and friends. It was still good microwaving it up a day later after being refrigerated.Originally posted by 2165 Turbo Rail View PostSmoked and ready to go
I've only eaten at the Hard 8 in Stephenville (been a while) and more recently in Roanoke and it was good but not better than Pecan Lodge IMO. I don't care for BBQ sauce and would rather have it "bare" as I would rather have the taste of the brisket "naked" and not have anything covering it up. I get pissed when I order brisket and they put the sauce on it.Originally posted by Brandon-k View PostLast few times I've eaten at Hard 8 their brisket was going for $13.50/lb I think. I agree, I think Pecan Lodge is above Hard 8. I'd like to stack it up to Black's or some of the other places in Lockhart. Roadtrip anyone???

I fully agree pecan lodge is better but hard 8 is 5 mins from my office that's why I went there

I've got nothing LOL! The one in Roanoke is up the street from my office but I don't go there often enough simply because I work from home. I might have to hit them up soon just for comparison.Originally posted by 2165 Turbo Rail View PostI fully agree pecan lodge is better but hard 8 is 5 mins from my office that's why I went there

My cousin is in town next week and wants to try a BBQ place He's in FTW What would y'all suggest ?
My first thought is hard 8 because it's close to my work and it's a touristy type place but is there somewhere else toward FTW we should try
I've been to hard 8 a lot and would like to try something else

It's on the south side of Ft. Worth but I'd suggest Longoria's BBQ.Originally posted by 2165 Turbo Rail View PostMy cousin is in town next week and wants to try a BBQ place He's in FTW What would y'all suggest ?

NOPE! After looking at the menu, I discovered they put beans in Chili... which makes it NOT Chili and discredits the whole fucking operation! FAIL.Originally posted by Jose View PostOriginally posted by stevoNot a good idea to go Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor on the power phallus.

Also nope. I tried Longoria's out about a month ago, had the sliced brisket. Not impressed at all. I don't know how the hell they even ended up ranking so high year after year. You could go to Luby's and get about the same quality of brisket I had there.

Henry is going to ban you mother fuckers for talking shit about Longoria's. It does suck dick, though.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

Angelo's is great most of the time. Coopers in the stockyards isn't bad, especially if you want chicken. If he'll be in town on Friday for lunch I'd recommend The Smoke Pit, their 1lb pork chop is cheap and awesome but call ahead and reserve one. It is a dive joint for sure but the waitresses wear bikini tops, it's cheap and and the food is good.Originally posted by 2165 Turbo Rail View PostMy cousin is in town next week and wants to try a BBQ place He's in FTW What would y'all suggest ?

Me personally I do Railhead regularly. As long as they are busy it's really good. I get the two meat dinner and my wife gets a brisket plate. With drinks and everything we are out for under $20.00 (they do a 25% military discount).
If you want to drop some cash and go fancy the Wood Shed has been good every time I've been there. It is EXPENSIVE for BBQ though. Lunch with a couple of drinks was $50.00.

Angelo's, Railhead, and Cooper's in FTW are all fucking terrible. Like, Dickie's terrible. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to any of those. Same goes for Hard 8. They used to be hit and miss, now it's all miss.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I didn't say Riscky's was any better. But neither are any of those you mentioned.Originally posted by BP View PostSure they are, he should just go to Risckys.
