The thing to remember here is that people (all people) will let you down at some point. People are imperfect by their nature and we all constantly screw up. It doesn't matter if it is some screw up in prison or the most righteous pastor of a church. Everyone will screw up and let you down at some point.

Unknowing, you have introduced an important point into this thread....rose colored glasses. In a sense God views mankind through rose colored glasses, willingly overlooking the sins of man in favor of his good side, made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.Originally posted by talisman View PostAt least you don't wear rose colored glasses about it. How about that, you're learning from this forum whether you realized it or not

At that time I felt as a member of the church I had every right to ask the chairman of the Staff/ Parish relations committee what the deal was. Especially when he was asking her when she would turn in her resume, and then pledging his support 100%. I was also not the only person to pose the question after the announcement was made, and those people have been given different stories and have also made the pastor's shit list.Originally posted by lo3oz View PostThat sucks, but do you really feel you had the right to confront them over the decision they made over not hiring your wife? do you think there's a chance your vision/judgement of her is clouded and they perhaps see a different side than you? just playing both sides.
You are right my opinion is very biased ,however, she is very capable of doing the job. I can recognize talent, and if it were something she was not capable of then I would have told her so. When the position came open most of the congregation came to her asking if she was going to put her hat in the ring, this included both pastors, the person who was leaving the position, the entire SPRC and a few from the district. The Central District of the church do not consider the prerequisites that the Pastor and Associate Pastor placed on the job as being important. I guess the biggest thing that pissed me of is that the pastor and associate pastor were not supposed to be involved with the decision. They were. It also has come up that the person who held the job a few years ago, who is very tight with the associate, but not a big fan of my wife is wanting to come back after she walked away from the job three years ago.
I know you are just getting one side of the story this thread was more to get it off my chest somewhere. It is a given that anytime you have any kind of organisation these issues will come up. None of us are perfect.
We are still church shopping though, and she might try again with another church but not for a while. Me personally I am done volunteering for anything, I will go with a saying my dad told me: the nail that stands up will always get hammered down.Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Unfortunately you're 100% correct, but one does have different expectations for the prisoner than the pastor.Originally posted by Sgt Beavis View PostThe thing to remember here is that people (all people) will let you down at some point.
