We both know the answer to that, But what's so wrong for me going on strike for those things?? Whats the difference in a company coming and taking those things away from me so they can buy a bigger house or bigger boat?? I like those things too.Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostI'm military since we are on the subject. So, brings us to the question. What do you think would happen if we had a union and went on strike for better pay, benefits and a safe working environment?

That is rich. This post is so full of fail I don't even know where to start.Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostSo do you think that because the U.S. Constitution worked back then we should just let it disapear now? I am saying that union labor does better work, if you read my earlier post I said we spend more time fixing non-union stuff than we do putting in or own work.Well lets do this next time you go to the Dr. let some one that just watched help you out, and I'll go to the Dr. that went to school and learned.

I know there is non-union people out there that do good work, but you would be surprised by how often we have to go in and fix all there work. No not at all.????Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostSo do you think that because the U.S. Constitution worked back then we should just let it disapear now? As long as they are properly licensed, certified, bonded, etc., I couldn't give two shits whether it was a union company or not. A union, with VERY few exceptions, does not guarantee any higher quality of work so long as you compare certifications, experience, and training.
I personally witnessed the following in a shop that refilled breathing oxygen bottles, just as an example...
7 union workers: Average productivity=22 bottles per 24 hours, 4.5% defect rate (bottles not filled correctly, damaged, etc.). Avg salary: $34/hour
Replaced by 2 non-union workers: Average productivity=68 bottles per 24 hours, <1% defect rate. Average salary: $20/hour
Now, what was more cost-effective and SAFER?
In case you didn't know, even $20/hr to refill breathing O2 bottles is outrageously high pay. It's an incredibly easy job.
So, keep paying almost 6 times as much salary for more than triple the productivity and more than 4.5 times the quality? Well, that's a no-brainer right there."It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."

You're comparing unions to the Constitution? Really? The Constitution is the bedrock of our civilization and the Supreme Law of our country. Unions are leeches that produce nothing while demanding money. Do you support union membership being voluntary anywhere a union is in force and dues being billed instead of withdrawn from paychecks?Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostSo do you think that because the U.S. Constitution worked back then we should just let it disapear now? You're trying to sell that union school is more effective than someone going to school on their own.Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostSo you are telling me that someone that goes to school and does on the job training might not have more skill?? Why in the hell does anybody even go to school then?I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

Are you saying that only union workers are subject to quality inspections and work codes? That only union workers are required to obtain professional and trade licenses?Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostSo you are telling me that someone that goes to school and does on the job training might not have more skill?? I was an apprentice plumber for 4 years, then a journeyman plumber for 13, I even spent two years in the 529 in Waco. I can tell you first hand that the union workers I had to work with were some of the laziest people and had some of the poorest work quality I had ever seen.

I'm saying that in my union school they showed us everything that has to do in my trade.I know that non-union companys call people from our school and trade to teach there people on how to do certain things all the time. So that leads me to think maybe our schools are better.Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostYou're trying to sell that union school is more effective than someone going to school on their own.

I stated earlier that some non-union people do good work, and that some union people are lazy and do bad work. Thats in all kinds of work.We both know that work codes and inspections happen on all jobs and everyone has to obtain the proper licenses. I got in the trade knowing that I could make a good living for me and my family, and I have been able to do that for 14 years now. It just bothers me when people that don't really know about the union bash them.Originally posted by stevo View PostAre you saying that only union workers are subject to quality inspections and work codes? Actually, most of us know about unions and some of us have been in them. Unions are archaic institutions that have no current place. And you have yet to answer my questions.Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostI stated earlier that some non-union people do good work, and that some union people are lazy and do bad work. Do you support making union membership voluntary in union held areas? Do you support making union dues billable instead of automatically deducted?
Those questions right there will answer a lot of questions about youI wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

Implies that only union workers are trained and licensed, where as non-union workers are not or are trained to some lesser extent.Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostSo you are telling me that someone that goes to school and does on the job training might not have more skill?? Implies that the work down by union workers is done by code, inspected and certified, where as the work done by non-union workers is somehow not certified to the same extent.Originally posted by Hell-Bent SS View PostIf your ok with letting a non-union company come in and just let anybody pipe up a nuke or a boiler where your kids go to school and just hope nothing ever goes wrong than more power to you.
