There are provisions for burning a flag to dispose of it, written into the flag code. There is no provisions for burning a holy book ON A MILITARY INSTALLATION. If they didn't want it, it could have been handled like everything else religious and put in the chapel. Command could have also easily have told those thieves who go through your mail at the APO checkpoint and steal your electronics, not to let cases of Bibles through.
There is zero excuse for this. Where did you find a protocol for burning the Bible? I've yet to find it.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

I'm sure the commanders were real concerned with what would be coming through the mail while fighting a war on the ground. It was a call made by a commander to burn them after they got here, oh well. The Church shouldn't have tried to use the military as a platform for their gospel.Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostThere are provisions for burning a flag to dispose of it, written into the flag code. You mean according to me, young specialist with combat experience. Were this the Koran it'd never have a fire NEAR it. I demand teh same rights and courtesies that are given the Muslims.Originally posted by exlude View PostAccording to you, young Specialist in the rear.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

I actually meant to say young specialist in the rear with zero command experience.Originally posted by Forever_frost View PostYou mean according to me, young specialist with combat experience.
It's easy to arm chair quarterback command decisions in combat, especially when you only have partial pictures.
The Bibles were burned because we cannot and will not spread gospel as part of our mission. The Koran is not burned because it negatively impacts our mission if we do. Notice the focus on the mission, not your feelings?

He doesn't get it, he's incapable of getting it. All he sees is "burning bible" and his mind goes into meltdown mode. After that happens he puts on his "persecuted christian" hat and comes here to DFWM and starts spewing illogical garbage.Originally posted by exlude View PostI actually meant to say young specialist in the rear with zero command experience.

For the record, I've exposed you for the brainless window licker that you are, many times over. YOU are the only one here delusional enough to believe that you've ever won any sort of argument, with any board member here. Say what you will. No sweat off my back. Just remember, there's an 8+ page thread full of backwards ass retarded StanleyTweedlisms. That's not a compliment, FWIW.Originally posted by StanleyJustinTaliwhacker95 View Post

This was not a combat decision, this was a decision to avoid offending one group while having no problem with offending another. Yes, I see burning bible and have a mental meltdown but at least I don't firebomb offices who put up pictures of Jesus in a cartoon.Originally posted by exlude View PostI actually meant to say young specialist in the rear with zero command experience.

The Bibles could have easily been stored in the chapel for use by those who wished to use them. There was no reason to burn them. Oddly enough, I remember everyone throwing a fit about a koran burning in Florida talking about how it'd offend someone and shouldn't be done, but you can't muster the empathy to see how this could be offensive to a huge swath of people and shouldn't be done?
It's not a combat decision, it's a command decision that was poorly made.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

"command decisions in combat" does not equate to combat decision.Originally posted by ceyko View PostIt's easy to see it implied in post 83, second sentence.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.
