    What about them? I'm not in that place to babysit. But our daily efficiency as a team generally runs 108%. That takes into account rework and anything else done while clocked into a shop order. I tend to run months at a time without a defect, all of my work is 100% inspection and our qaa's have no problem writing a nonconformance if it isn't right, even paperwork.

    What about your coworkers? Your fellow union members? Do you still get paid for all 8 hours or just the ones you work?

    just left a job where the union held management hostage on a daily basis. At the same time they held the junior members hostage also.

    I was there to witness how the union acted at contract negotiations. The union officials got themselves sweet deals and none of the changes effected them. All the changes effected the junior people and were told take it or leave it.

    I have enough experience to have ran the damn department but because I was junior to a bunch of people that had done nothing but the same job for 30-40 years I made the bottom of the barrel and got treated like it. So past work history and experiences meant absolutely squat. That tells me that they either A. wanted my experience but didn't want to compensate me for it or B. didn't want new theories and ways of thinking. They simply wanted to do business like they have done for the past 60 years. Pathetic.

    The senior guys, making TWICE an hour what I made and wanted the junior people to do the work and so they could sit back and watch. Then they were the first to bitch about the smallest shit. There was no TEAM effort, it was the senior fucks that were topped out that had ZERO real world experience outside of their little bubble and then you had the folks that brought in experience, education, professional development training certs etc. that got paid the least and told which hours they HAD to work even outside of 40 a week.

    That union was a fucking joke. Did absolutely dick for you unless you had been there for 5 plus years and was part of their clique. The company gave you 5 days sick and 10 days vacation your first year. I signed an offer letter on the 12th Dec and quit my other job. They started the first new hires for 2012 on the 9th of Jan. When it came time in July for sick days to come out "oh, you got hired after the first of the year. You have to wait until July 2013 for sick days". Same thing for vacation but vacation was even more of a fucking "you have to do a full calendar year from Oct to Oct to get the vacation days in the following summer. Wait until July 2014 for vacation days". So for a year and a half I am expected to work MANDATORY OT on my days off as long as they contact me 8hrs before the shift and I don't get any sick or vac for almost 2 years. Uh, hey union what are you gonna do about that? NOT A FUCKING THING, thanks for playing.

    Needless to say I popped smoke and am back doing what I do, making 6 figures and being respected for my knowledge and utilized at the same time I am compensated. Oh, and I get a fuck ton of vacation time earned each paycheck and paid travel to and from my point of origin (DFW for me).

    The sad thing is, I wanted to work for the company and found myself hating it becuase of the union.

    I let my hard work and dedication to my job do my negotiating. I have job security because I do a good job, not because a union has my back. I get regular, and GOOD raises because my job want's me to stick around.
