Well, I think both. In polls, most people said that they believed Mitt Romney would fix the economy compared to Obama, but voted for him anyway because of social issues. Seems like the may agree somewhat with fiscal conservatism, but they dont care. This is why I think that any conservative getting elected non fraudulenty in 2016 is a pipe dream, at this point. We are officially a socialist country.

i know you have a mom, and i hope you have a sister. im pretty sure your little peter is too young to have a daughter. but imagine they were raped. and then thrown in jail, or denied, or had to go to mexico to have an abortion. and your highest official said, nope, it was an act of god. you have to have that baby.
now if you were your mom, sister, or just a stand up man, where would you stand on that ideology? thats where being aware of social issues overcomes being a socialist.THE BAD HOMBRE

Well there you go, another demonstration of your lack of knowledge. But, your political view requires this fundamentally. The republican party has ever proposed denying rape victims abortions. That's scare tactics of Obama and it worked on you, like it did many impressionable young women.Originally posted by naynay View Posti know you have a mom, and i hope you have a sister. im pretty sure your little peter is too young to have a daughter. but imagine they were raped. and then thrown in jail, or denied, or had to go to mexico to have an abortion. and your highest official said, nope, it was an act of god. you have to have that baby.

The African American populace has made themselves look so gullable and ignorant, and they mostly are. I am not being a 'racist', hell, my brother is of the ethnic group. What is sad is that a lot of them are worse than Rodney...

Fiscal conservatism is about the only thing the GOP has going for them. As a party they would be fools to abandon that view. A huge chunk of the party, the young and energetic portion, are "republican" solely because of the fiscal issues. And an even larger number of young, under 60, independents are right there waiting to have someone they can believe in to get on board 100%. Now people are going to go ape shit by me saying this, but Paul has without a doubt proven that old white guys can still get those young 20-30-40 year old people to participate in politics. Regardless of if you agree with the message or not getting young people into the party can/has been done. Military spending, entitlement spending, monetary policy, deficits they can really get people on their side if they can get the right person to talk about those issues. Another problem is that they don't have many in the party who can talk about all of the above with a straight face or without getting run out of office by their own.
They also have a problem with minorities. They have got to get the message out there that they are not just the old white guys club anymore. I'm not talking about instituting affirmative action during the conventions, but just make an effort. Romney was not the guy to address either of these issues seriously and I'm not sure any of the candidates this time around had the right stuff.
Finally they have got to put the social and moral mandates on the back burner if they want to win in the future. They don't need to stack the deck or nominate a flaming dancer or anything either, but just reiterating that their message is that the government should be for all individuals liberty. Let the families and the church deal with those problems. Just my opinion.

You can't get pregnant from true rape. At least that's what some GOPers think.Originally posted by CJ View PostWell there you go, another demonstration of your lack of knowledge. No, that's what Mourdoch said, and he is a moron, which is why he lost his bid. The moment he spouted off that fucking ridiculous bullshit he should have withdrawn. The GOP called for him to withdraw, he refused. What naynay said never happened, that is the topic being discussed.Originally posted by majorownage View PostYou can't get pregnant from true rape. If someone is raped and goes to the hospital rite away they will be given drugs to stop themselves from becoming pregnant. It can take up to 72 hours before an egg is fertilized so if you do this there will be no need for an abortion. Like was said before that was just a scare tactic from the left for the dumb down masses.

rubio? maybe.
bobby jindal would be a good pick. rhode scholar, very smart guy. being form a non-white race might cost him votes from bigots though.
bloomberg? maybe. but I don't think his views go along with the base of republicans.
Bush proved you don't have to be smart or a good speaker (or really good at anything for that matter) to become president. just have to surround yourself with the right people in the right places, so anything is possible.

Their platform stated no abortion under any circumstance. It isn't a great leap to get to no abortion if your raped. And even without that, when they did not kick out the idiots that did say it while campaining they supported it by default. It took a couple of DAYS for mittens to come out against Akins and that was only after he saw the uproar. I don't think he ever came out against moorland (sp?)Originally posted by CJ View PostWell there you go, another demonstration of your lack of knowledge.
