I work for a medical imaging device manufacturer and we've had several layoffs this year. Honestly, I expect there will be more. The device tax hurts, but just like any tax, it eventually is paid by the end user (the patient). What's hurting us now is the hospital's reluctance to plunk down several million in capital investment while reimbursement rates are up in the air. Many facilities are sitting on older technology while waiting to see how this whole mess shakes out....
