Realistically, I doubt it.

In what manner would we not be self sufficient? We would seem to have plenty of monetary capability, food and energy and what not is more than covered. As well as access to the oceans. We would seemingly be able to do this with ease.

There are a few holes in this idea, regarding Texas's current overall tax burden. First and foremost is the issue of defense. We don't currently have a way to fund the amount of defense we would require in Texas. I can't see us getting a reasonable military put together out of the money we'd make off the difference in what we contribute vs. what we receive, tax wise.
