It is not hypocrasy. Mcarthy was bringing attention to communists trying to bring down our country from within. They were trying to destroy us, our Constitution, and everything we stand for. People said Mcarthy was nuts or paranoid or making baseless accusations, but in case you haven't noticed he turned out to be correct. They have invaded the Democrat party (and to a lesser extent the GOP), and have finally made it to the white house. They are transforming this country to mirror what the USSR was. If we do survive, I think history will look back on Mcarthy as the only one who really knew what was going on.

Mcarthy was good in that he was a politician not seeking a career and doing what he thought was right. Unfortunately, he was bat shit and had a grossly broken morale compass. Anyone who disagreed with him was a communist or a communist sympathizer, he had the tact of a 5 year old.

Dude, trying to make the US communist, and trying to, "bring it down," are two separate things. You're allowed to be communist. There's even an official communist political party in the US. That's allowed under the First Amendment.

I had never given this any thought before but the bit of reading I have done since you asked this question has so far told me that it is an "implied" power recognized by the Supreme Court. So far I cannot find where it is specifically mentioned in the Constitution, and I do not remember reading anything about it the last time I read it.
