So everyone has their guns, who has purchased hand held radios, or CB radios for their vehicles, to use for communication if it does hit the fan and they shut everything down?

IMHO, CBs are good and cheap to have around. Hand helds, most people should have for hunting/racing and other activities.

The ham radio thing, that's a big undertaking I think though. (not that you mentioned it though...just bringing it up)

What concerns me, is if there is that level of problems they'd likely be able to jam radio signals too. Just not sure if they can do it nation/city wide though.

What makes you really think that history couldnt repeat itself. We have no idea of what his actual intentions are. I dont give a fuck at all if I am considered crazy for being prepared for a government that could do anything they wanted to do.
There is no telling what could happen, so why not be as prepared as possible? Just some easy advice to follow.

If nothing happens and the world is a great place in a few years and all is well again, you could always sell your rifles. Think I will keep mine just incase.

Anyone who believes Americans will not stand up haven't been paying attention to our history. Not just at our founding, but recent. Rodney King riots, you had people tearing up pavement to throw at cops with others sitting on rooftops to protect their homes and property. During Sandy, you had entire neighborhoods where everyone banded together and set up roving armed guards with orders to shoot anyone coming in. Even without a national emergency or event like King, you have areas that police are scared to go to. You have people wanting, waiting, hoping for just one more line to be crossed. One thing they can point to to focus their anger on. Just one.

Everyone has a line in the sand. One where you can push them and no more. They will retreat no further and that line varies person to person. Some people are willing to submit to slavery as long as it's a slavery they know. Some won't. Some will say "I've given enough, and no more." That same person will decide that no longer are they willing to pay for peace with liberty and peace at any cost is too expensive.

During the American Revolution roughly 3% of colonists fought the British either actively fought with rifles or were sympathetic and provided aid. Today, we have .46% of Americans who have served in the armed forces and taken an oath and swore they would die in defense of the Constitution. Of those? Maybe half actually still mean it. A quarter of a percent. Out of 310 million that comes out to (and I've had a rough, very rough day so excuse my math) roughly a million people drawing just from OIF/OEF veterans. It's not hard to get to that 3% from the Revolution. That 3% would account for 9 million Americans, armed and pissed. That's more people and more firepower and more training than every active duty military and police force in the US (if numbers are still right in my head).

The government should fear it's people. Our Founders believed so and so do I. You just have to ask yourself, "Where is my line in the sand? Where will I retreat before I say no more?"
