You have every right to that opinion, I see it combined with the new definitions for mental illness to become the new power grab. You will now start hearing stories about doctors abusing these new policies to force personal political agendas.

I'm fine with a doctor who is about to prescribe a drug that has mental side effects to ask. I've got friends who are therapists and they've had the same complaint. "They couldn't do anything but wait for him to hurt someone" By then its too late. Two years ago one had a patient who was on anti-depressants "violently go off" their meds and ended up shooting his GF in the back (paralyzing her) when he had an episode. Doc knew for weeks that he was a danger but couldn't do anything about it.

Part of this whole mess is that motherfuckers who are have severe mental issues or are otherwise at risk get access to firearms. These loopholes where the mentally and emotionally deficient end up getting access is why the rest of us law abiding and sane gun owners are paying the price.

He is basically saying, if this doesn't go through Congress, blame the war mongering, murder supporting Republicans. He is trying to drive the wedge further, just like he did with the fiscal cliff bullshit. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. He is playing politics for the future. It's all a mental game at this point to him. He will do the same with the debt ceiling.
