Now, what makes you think people on here don't contribute to community improvements? Maybe the ones that pour extra time, effort and finances into bettering society get extra vocal to see their efforts go to waste.

Denny I do not believe I made my statement clear. No I am not paid to work on a Service Learning Project on my time after I have left my school for the day, nor I am paid for my volunteer services on weekends. This is a project to be performed on weekends. Also I am a school Principal and consider myself a teacher as well. Our teachers are not being paid for volunteering their time for this project, they are volunteers. The community members donating their time, supplies and effort to this project are not paid, nor are the students they are all volunteers. Our compensation is merely in the job being done in itself and community pride. I apologize for not making the process more clear; however, if you would please refrain from berating school teachers I would appreciate it. Specifically your cynical tone with the usage of the word "typical" hints to idea teachers are wishing to attain praise not due to them.

I have no opinion on who has more or less say, I do argue that when one stops complaining and takes action then something worth while is more likely to take place.

Please excuse me for I must now return to planning my latest Service Learning Project, for my teachers and students. We are working with local business partners who have donated materials to fix houses of the elderly here in our community. Is there something you could do to make our nation or state a better place to live?
