    So looking at this from a personal angle and going backwards:
    I pay approximately $159 every two weeks for $4,134 a year
    This is for a family of two or more. We have one child but if I had 10 it would be the same amount.

    Deductibles:
    International care = No Deductible, 100% coverage
    US In Network = $2,000
    US OUT of Network = $6,000

    Annual out of pocket limit:
    International car = No out of pocket
    US IN Network = $4,000 (excludes deductible)
    US OUT of Network= $8,000 (excludes deductible)

    Plan pays:
    International = 100%
    US In Network = 80% (after deductible)
    US Out of Network = 60% (after deductible)

    Adult and Child Preventive Care: immunizations, screenings (colorectal, Pap Test, mammogram, prostate, etc)
    100% - deductible waived

    Emergency Room and Maternity visits it pays:
    International = 100%
    US In Network = 80% (after deductible)
    US Out of Network = 60% (after deductible)

    I am looking, with an open mind to see what it would cost me to get on the open exchange. Of course there is no telling what this will do to my plan NEXT year.

    Of course after spending an hour on www.healthcare.gov I am still trying to get a price.
    Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

        Anyone else just keeping their browser open on the healthcare.gov website to help bog it down?

          I like the approach, perhaps if we all pinged the server at once, that MIGHT cause a pause in data transfer.

              Some figures from the article:

              Rates for a 27-year-old range from $152.71 a month for a bronze plan, the lowest level of coverage, to $387 for a gold plan. Rates for a family of two 30-year-olds and two children range from $515.84 a month for a bronze plan to $1,308 for a gold plan.

              The bronze plan offers 70% coverage, which sucks. They haven't mentioned any copays or deductibles yet, which don't count into the 30% you pay.

                What is really stupid, is the notion that they believe all parents will keep their kids on their plans until they are 26. I would kick mine off at 18 if I had any. Tell them to grow up and get a job. These plans aren't any good.

                  The deductibles are hammering folks.

                    Lots of grad students out there and handicapped young adults. I carried our 23-year-old until her job started covering her 100% (a year after her being hired). We have really nice coverage through my wife's job.

                      I seriously doubt you would be that harsh if you invested 18 years in a child...

                      Unless your said child is a dipshit.

                        Keep in mind though that the 30% you would pay is 30% of a pre-negotiated rate, which is a considerably lower rate than the provider would otherwise bill.

                          I imagine if this thing goes into full effect, "Good" Healthcare professionals will start going rogue. They will stop accepting insurance and only accept cash money, thus leaving good healthcare to the ones who work hard and can afford it, which I am all for. No more lines and bullshit, specialized care, etc. I hope it does happen this way. Let the idiots who voted for this clown have "Take a ticket" doctors.

                            For people like me, we are fucked. My wife and daughter are covered through her work, but we cannot afford the family plan thus I have no coverage. We pay like $200 a month for the two of them, but it is almost $800 a month for a family plan that will cover me. But I make too much to get government insurance. Thus I am stuck paying the penalty which I cannot afford either. Wtf do people like me do? I don't really care to have insurance, I had it for almost 3 years and never once used it.

                              Already happening to some degree, they are called concierge doctors. You can pay about $1,000 a year to get in their patient pool then pay cash anytime you actually need to see them. From what I have read the cash cost is about half of what insurance normally pays.

                              Of course, with Oblowhard care, now you have to buy shitty insurance to go along with the doctor.

                                Show me where to sign up for that shit. Goodness, I could pay Jan & Feb to them & cadillac for the rest of the year with relative peace of mind, based on my current premiums w/ Humana vs actual need/use.
