So you're saying what you really want is for us support Ukraine in about 30 years while getting nothing out of it, amirite?

Northrop Grumman Corp. (NOC:US) was accused in a whistle-blower lawsuit by a former employee of lying to the U.S. government about steps it took to develop a civilian airliner missile-defense system.

Northrop Grumman lied about its progress and failed to deliver a viable product after being paid more than $62 million for the third phase alone of a project the defense contractor once called the Guardian System, according to the complaint filed in 2009 by Leo Danielides, an Illinois resident.

U.S. District Judge Ruben Castillo in Chicago ordered the lawsuit unsealed yesterday after the government said in a Jan. 22 filing that it couldn’t decided whether to join the case because it hadn’t completed its investigation.

All of them are gone now. Our (AA) 767 had a few in testing. They are all decommissioned now.

Anyways I saw an article that russia already has the black box.

[The Northrop Grumman Guardian is a passive anti-missile countermeasure system designed specifically to protect commercial airliners from shoulder-launched missiles (commonly known as MANPADS), using directed infrared countermeasures (DIRCM) technology.
    Deployment

An operational Guardian pod can be seen on the belly of this FedEx Express MD-10 between and just aft of the main landing gear

The third phase of the program, costing US$109 million is the deployment of the system on commercial flights.[1] FedEx Express became the first air carrier to deploy the Guardian on a commercial flight in September 2006, when it equipped one of its MD-11 freighters with the pod,[1] and subsequently equipped eight more aircraft for evaluation purposes.[4]

They didn't want to seperate the elections proved as much. Only towns that the rebels controlled were not allowed to vote every other town in the east voted to stay together.

Its not about the leadership Russia wont ever let it go and europe can't survive without it.

Ukraine shoulda kept the nukes then it would have been good and left alone. Since it gave them up and signed a treaty saying the US/NATO would protect it if ever russia invaded its been screwed.

Heads of state and governments order them most of the time.
No airliner that I have flown or known of has countermeasures. Maybe planes stated for diplomatic service do, nothing in the civilian world. The only radar we have is weather attenuating. We can map the ground in "ground" mode. I have mapped large ships on decent into O'hare on lake Michigan.
Our enhanced ground prox (egpws) is tied into our radar as well. This cross-references our GPS position with respect to altitude to avoid contact with high terrain (mountains etc..).

I think FedEx has some for some of the more sketchy routes.
