Would you do away with ss?

The fed is going to keep printing so plenty of money. The question is will it be worth anything when they are done
-
I would do away with it altogether.
Rough outline **
I'd phase it out. Medicare and ss both.
I would means test anyone 50+, anyone with $1mm or more wouldn't get it., or would stop getting it if they already are getting it. (This would include my grandparents, and largely impact my inheritance, but is the right thing to do. ) $500k+ would get 50% The rest would continue to get it at 75%. No cola, either. They could also take a cash option equal to 1.5x what they put into it, and also not be taxed any longer if they forego the benefits.
Any 45-50 would be subject to same means testing as above, but would get half. (No cola) They could also get 1.25x what they put in, if they forwent the future benefits.
Anyone 40-45, same means testing plus they'd get get a quarter even if they qualified. (No cola). They could get half what they paid in, and also their 7.65% tax cut to 2%
39 and below - a third of the 7.65% tax (medicare and ss combined) would go to fund the groups above, and the rest would either be no longer taxed, or mandating into a self-directed private account.
This would be a 40-45 year phase out, with declining expenditures as people die of old age.
This would still be a cost to the govt for the next 50 years, but a declining one.Last edited by sc281; 09-14-2014, 02:22 PM.

Failure to plan for retirement on their part does not constitute an emergency on mine. I say cancel the programs, but that is just the tip of the iceberg of shit I would get rid of if it were up to me.

I was arguing with a friend the other day about how social security is really just a scam and theyll be broke soon anyway. I made the points that ss and medicare and medicade and all those BS programs were just socialism and were doomed to fail from their inception. For all kinds of reasons
But his question was this. If you do away with them, or when they finally do fail, what happens to all those people? Ive been accused many times by many people of being heartless, because i say that in reality its not really my problem nor is it my responsibility or theirs. And its not the responsibility of the government to take care of all these people. But im not heartless i do care about them I just see the fundamental flaws in having forced charity. But back to the question. What do you do about those people, if anything? Simply watch them die?
