Theres another reason. Education and religion are not separate. As the kids grow up they learn to read by reading koran.

Just saw a study (dont remember where) that shows that under 30 population in most Muslim countries is better educated than the 60+ crowd. That 30 and under crowd has even higher numbers in the countries that are undergoing arab spring. Its not the arent educated, its that they are indoctrinated at such an early age. And most of that indoctrination is including anti-us propaganda
