I don't have a problem with anyone identifying with any particular ethnicity they want to. Ethnicity is a construct, and a relatively arbitrary one. The beef I have is with lying to get over on people. If he is white, he's using other peoples' identities and problems to advance his own career, which makes his efforts ironic. It means he's standing on the backs of the oppressed to receive something they suffered for. Another screwy thing about this whole situation is that if the only people Oprah is giving scholarships to is black men (I doubt that, but whatever), she's exhibiting both racism and sexism.
