  • Russian airline crash in Egypt - officially terrorism

Russia officially confirmed this morning that it was brought down by a bomb on board. The estimation is 1 kg of TNT.
Then they promptly offered a $50,000,000 reward. Double the reward the US put up for Bin Laden.

What do you think would be worse: Being captured by ISIS for being... whatever... or being captured by Russia for bringing down this plane?

Putin offers $50 million reward for Egypt plane bombers

Russia is offering $50 million for information that would lead to those responsible for planting a bomb on a plane that blew up over Egypt, killing 224 people. The reward offered by Russia is one of the highest ever placed on wanted terrorists. It is double the amount that was offered by the U.S. government for information about Osama bin Laden.

Metrojet flight 9268 crashed over the Sinai region of Egypt two weeks ago. The passenger jet was brought down by a bomb estimated to contain 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) of explosives, Russia's Federal Security Service said Tuesday. "We will search wherever they may be hiding. We will find them anywhere on the planet and punish them," Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a statement.

The Russian government is offering the unusually high reward to anyone who can lead the investigators to those responsible for bringing the plane down. Russia has previously offered a bounty of $10 million for two Chechen rebel leaders. The highest reward offered by the FBI was $25 million for al Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I didn't change mine to the French flag and won't in this instance either, but I don't see the problem with it. Yes, it's a little sheepish, and no, it doesn't physically do anything. Just thinking back though, much of the world stood with Americans on 9/11. I don't see what the harm is.

As for the OP's question. I think Putin can and will get just as nasty as these ISIS monsters.

Yeah... Russia is really going to hand over $50 million to an ISIS snitch so they can do what... buy more bombs? lol

I am 100% behind Russia in anything they want to do in that shit hole. I used to be all for "spreading freedom, democracy, capitalism" etc... but that is all just rhetoric, especially in the context of the Middle East. All they understand is barbarism, so give it to em, Putin.

I actually changed mine to mock the other people, but now it will look like an actual change for support.

Yeah so Russia isn't messing around. Basically anything they have that is capable of flying to Syria and dropping munitions is flying around the clock.

5 x Tu-160s, 6 x Tu-95MS and 14 x Tu-22M3 all with fighter escorts hitting targets at the same time. It's extremely impressive that the Russians managed to get that many planes in the air period, much less at the same time.

The last multiple bomber raid I know of that the US participated in was when we started bombing Baghdad and then it was 7 B-52s.

Militarily, Russia rarely half-asses anything, and I respect them for that. If it's worth doing, it's worth getting it done quickly.

Just to clarify things Russia is not fighting against the Syrian government, that's what al Qaeda and the Free Syrian Army are there for. We are supporting the Free Syrian Army along with al Qaeda, Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood of Syria, Al-Nusra and a dozen or so other jihadist groups.

Then you have the Kurdish fighters that were fighting against ISIL but now have basically taken over the northern part of Syria and aren't planning on giving it back. We supported this group with airstrikes and weapons, along with Australia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, UAE, Morocco and Canada with intelligence from the UK and Russia.

At least that's how it was last time I checked. The various jihadist groups, al Qaeda and ISIL tend to switch sides depending on what they want for lunch that day. I believe France and Russia have basically started going scorched earth on all of them, many of which we were supporting before the last round of bombing.

Russia and france has been pretty restrained so far trying to minimize civilian casualties. Wonder if that's going to change
