I'm "Catholic" but admittedly will start going to a Baptist church. IMHO, arguing religion among those of us who ultimately believe in God is a waste of time these days more so than in the past.

Also, it's not like Catholics are going to get a pass if Muslims start beheading folks in the US. We're all going to be in the same boat on that one. We can all either get along or just have more enemies.

I still think Jesus was actually Satan. The old testaments were very clear on what you could / couldn't do. God was pretty clear on how vengeful and spiteful he was, then came Satan with a few magic tricks and fooled the world into the new testaments.

Will someone please defend Islam with facts? It's my understanding that Allah = Christian God, Jesus existed and was just a prophet, the bible got fucked up by man so the Quran is supposed to be the "final" word, raw, unchanged from it's inception vs the bible that has been changed a shitload from it's original writings, etc etc etc.

They also pray to dead people, view the pope as a high priest and/or deity, confess their sins to priests, have priests forgive their sins, remake the 10 commandments to allow idol worship, create a heirchy system to dissiminate the pope's message since he talks directly with God, uses the baptism sacrament as a needed tool for salvation (mostly unwillingly forced to infants), excommunicate those that disagree with political leaning of the Vatican...

It's not Christianity by any standards.

Jesus says that He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through Him. That doesn't mean besides Mary, a saint or a priest with an alter boy under his desk.

Christianity is about a personal relationship with Jesus. Anything more, just takes away from that.

I am not saying I like the catholic church and its hierarchy or the way it has controlled people, but on the basic level of jesus' resurrection and return for salvation, they are christian.

Pretty much and the stories in both about adam and eve, the flood, abraham, and maybe a few others are similar before they split to different beliefs and teachings. When I worked in Saudi I had the chance to get to know several Saudis who were interested in discussing both religions and having a real conversation and it was very eye opening and a great learning experience. Keep in mind though that the Saudi Wahabi sect of islam is much stricter than some others so what they believe may not align completely with a muslim you find in the states or elsewhere. Still, I was able to learn far more than I could probably type on here. But yes Jesus to them is a prophet and is like #2 or #3 in line after Muhamad on how much they respect and admire him. In fact it is Jesus they think will return with the Madi and start beheading non believers, so not exactly the same peace and love Jesus you are thinking of.

Allah = Allah who is a the moon God of Muhammad and his family. Really go look it up because all the info is readily available. It's also why there is a moon on all their temples. Allah is also a rock in the Maa'caba in Medina and people march around it and kiss the rock. Muhammad thought the rock fell from the moon..... it's just a volcanic rock which would have been rare in the desert so it must've been a god...

Now go ask a Jew, any Jew the name of their God. Their God is Yahweh or Jehovah or some derivation there of.

There is so much idiocy and misinformation there. For starters they have a moon everywhere because they use a lunar calendar and not a solar one. It has nothing to do with Allah living on the moon. Allah, at least in the Saudi Wahabist movement, lives in Saudi Arabia as that is their holy land. The sacred rock was touched or blessed by muhammed (or maybe had something to do with his death, I cannot remember). It is likely volcanic or from meteor but no studies are allowed so that is all pure hypothesis. You don't have to agree with their beliefs, but stop spreading nonsense.

Except the Koran isn't the final say. Their Imams can and do alter it at will with a more holy word, written in a book. It's like the updated cliff notes to the Koran that overrides it.

I will address this, however...

The beauty of my relationship with God is that it is based on faith. My faith has opened my eyes to something greater than a simple visual confirmation. God could have just made Himself evident to all of us. Hell, He could have made all of us just bow down and worship Him. The whole reason He even created us, in His image, mind you, was because He wanted something that He couldn't simply create. The faith, love and hope we offer to Him based on a supernatural understanding of what He wants. We also please Him through our obedience, sacrifice and compassion for all the He has created.

Look man, Jesus didn't come to just save us, He also came to show us how to live. I am doing His Message a terrible disservice with these short, choppy posts, but let me try to break it down. Jesus' teachings in one sentence:

Love God, love yourself and love others.

Spread God's Love and His Message. That's all any of our roles should be. None of that reflects the teachings of Islam. If God wanted forced submission, He could get it done Himself without those hadji warriors. Islam teaches that Jesus was a prophet. They also teach that their prophets don't lie. Jesus claimed to be the Son of God. Islam does not see it that way. So, if He doesn't lie, according to their teachings, then what?
