  • Skull-Stomping Sacred Cows: Sun Tzu on Dallas, Cowardice, and Training

A little long-ish, but very well worth reading.

I’ve held my tongue publicly, for a couple days, in the interest of not treading on the dead. As I’ve watched know-nothing news commentators, and politician police officials make statem…

        1) Dude was an E3, with six years in the Reserves—in an Engineer unit—and a deployment downrange to the ‘Stan. His MOS was 12W—carpentry and masonry specialist. He was not an Infantryman. He was not Ranger-qualified. He was not SF. While it’s possible—perhaps even probable—that, at some point during his deployment, he gunned up and ran a convoy or two, it’s also reasonably safe to assume he was not out kicking in doors and shooting Hajj in the face. He certainly didn’t learn to be some sort of super-ninja gunslinger as a reserve E3 in a Reserve Component Engineer unit. Further, the tactical techniques he used are not anything doctrinal to the United States Army.

Great article. His thoughts align with same things I have been thinking. Like when he said the media calls him a coward for using good tactical strategies instead of being stupid and trying to fight face to face when he is greatly outnumbered.

I figured with his military background he would be less racist, don't you bond with your brothers of all colors in the military?

In a large amount of cases... yes....

Obviously not in this particular case.

No, not really. Race and racism is actually pretty prevalent in the military.

I saw an interview with a sergeant he had served with and the guy mentioned that the sexual harassment charge he got hit with in Afghanistan may have set him off on this whole black power bullshit thing he was on. That makes me wonder if maybe he was wrongfully accused by some white girl.

In any event, the article makes decent points, the police are not equipped or trained to counter military tactics.

He was a FOBrat, and probably never left the wire. Besides, he was too busy harassing women and stealing panties. A real shitbag.

Glenn Beck's company did an interview with the family. The media has been hounding them and camped outside their house. According to Glenn, they didn't want to do any interviews, but saw one of his commentators on TV (don't remember the guy's name), and decided they would talk to him and called him. Anyway, I don't know if the full interview has been released yet, but Glenn previewd some of it yesterday amd talked to the intervierer. The Mom and Dad of the shooter are black. They are divorced. The step-Mom s WHITE. She has been in the family for like 15 or 16 years I think they said.

Not on a submarine where everyone's life depends on being safe and able to fight any casualty (equipment, natural or personnel). On a sub we don't even give a shit if you can march or shine your fucking shoes either. It's 100% how you do your job. A racist on a submarine would slip and fall down and get hurt a lot just like thieves.

Racism in the military? F that.

I have never heard so many racist and sexist jokes as I did when i was in the Air Force, but it was always in good fun and no one was ever serious. We all laughed and joked together. Once in a while you would hear of someone getting offended and filing a complaint, but I never saw it happen in person. I know it does exist in the miitary, but from what I saw it was rare.

Not just on subs. Even with us airdales, if you do your job, and are a decent person...you aight.
Hell, my first unit, we were up on a detachment to Astoria, OR. 7 white dudes and one black one ("Crawdaddy"). We all go in to little store to buy beer. Crawdaddy is last to the register. He comes out of the store empty handed. He said the clerk said they didn't sell to blacks because they cause trouble when they drink. Seven white dudes marched into that store and showed that mother fucker what trouble was.
Crawdaddy got his beer, and we taught a racist a painful lesson.
