I gotta say, that was one of the best SotU addresses that I've even seen. Sure, he ruffled the opposing feathers quite a few times. But given what the MSM would have you believe, and some comments from the right, he got a remarkable amount of applause from them, and a frankly shocking number of standing ovations. Even his comments about Venezuela, and socialism got vigorous support from both sides (with the exceptions of Bernie and Ocasio crazy eyes). I mean the right visibly and enthusiastically gave him support many more times than I would have guessed.
Cockeyed optimism: Maybe we've finally gotten to a point where the two sides can work together.

I honestly don't know if that'll happen in our lifetimes. The Dems are actively pushing to abolish the electoral college so the left-leaning metropolis' control the elections, abolish ICE, open the border and let illegals vote, legalize infanticide, make Socialism a reality, and on and on.

There's no way two parties that are so far apart on their basic values can work together.

I just watched the whole SOTU. You'd never guess the political scene is as contentious as it is based on the overall response in the room. There were obvious times when the Dems stayed seated, as expected, but the mood seemed lighter than I expected.

Bernie does speak some truths about how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Hell, I am lucky enough to be making the money I do, but much like millions of others, I don't think I'll ever be able to retire because of my lack of a big enough nest egg, but that's my problem. It's no one else's responsibility. However, I would rather be free and need to do what it takes to survive rather than live in Bernie's world where I don't enjoy the freedoms and the fruits of my labor so that some other lazy bum can benefit from them. Or, be told what I can and cannot do because it simply might hurt someone else's feelings or intrude on their personal space.
