I'd say the war on drugs has been somewhat successful. Sure it's a giant cave we throw endless cash and resources into but at least the Columbian cartels aren't working with every major organized crime operation in the world any longer. The Mexicans have only recently figured out there is a European market for their stuff, the Columbians had their own air force to deliver cocaine around the world.

LMAO, spacemen could have landed too. We aren't talking about alternate history or what could have happened. We are talking about actual history.

I would agree with you that Reagan was not the best president we ever had, but he was no doubt the best president in my lifetime. This opinion is not based on something I gleaned from books or from Google, rather it's from first person experience.

Agreed.... But I'm more of a right leaning independent...

The soviet military went bankrupt in Afghanistan not the eastern block

You could argue that they were.

I have a couple of books on my shelf dealing with that very fact, and it seems that there is no clear consensus. However, it is generally agreed upon that the Soviet economic model would have eventually collapsed on its own.

    5. The 1986 Volkmer/McClure Firearms Owners' Protection Act was written to eliminate the worst parts of the 1968 Gun Control Act, but the goddam antis tacked on the machinegun ban as a rider at the last minute. Reagan was under a lot of pressure to sign the bill and he had to accept or reject the whole thing as it was presented to him. If he had line-item veto power, he could have accepted the main bill (good) and scrapped the rider (bad).

Dead Reagan is better than the turd we have now.

Between economists and historians you will always have disagreements on supply side economics. It works amazingly well in the immediate but hard to say in the long run. With the abundance of economic growth people become more charitable. Generally speaking, with their own money. In this country, our congress gets exceedingly generous with OPM.

Reagan also didn't sit back and look like a bitch. Obama just looks lost.

More appointed officials were indicted and convicted of crimes under Reagan than than any other president.

Reagan banned the production of new machine guns for civilians.
