You're missing the point. Unions have evolved from working for the worker's rights to a mafia-type big business and creating a workforce of lazy clock watchers, demanding entitlements.We have labor laws and tons of work place regulations nowadays anyway.

No...didn't take away a "right" to join a union. They can still join a union. What it did was kill the union's ability to force negotiations on the state for "work place safety" and the benefits packages (i.e. pension and health). Now *gasp* the employees of the company (in this case the state) have to agree with whatever benefits are offered or go get your own. You know, LIKE THE REST OF US!!!

Where as before, the union would strong arm the state into giving it whatever it wanted.

Is this the same kind of right like issued by the government to people that don't want to work, collect food stamps and a government check each month and it increases with every child they have?
If that is the case, how about we all just get these rights and have the country go belly up in debt because the individual cant make it on his own with out their government rights.

How much do you actually know about the modern labor laws in this country? I would be a proponent for unions if this were 1910. Its not. Today we have something called OSHA and other such institutions that make unions just plain unnecessary. Now tack on all the corruption and greed, and unions just need to go cause their time is long over.

initially this whole thing was about saving money, taking a little out of the employee pension and a little out of their healthcare benefits, all with the intention of saving the state some money. what they passed the other night, did not include any of this, it just put an end to some collective bargaining, so its not saving them any money.

the reasoning was to save money now, this just helps them down the road. originally this legislation was meant to save the state about 30 million dollars, which they desperately need right now.
