Hot water heat stopped working...Found pilot light out so relit but would not stay burning...Figured thermo couple went out so I replaced it but still not staying lit. Blew out pilot burner incase that was the issue but still no good...What would be my next step....The hot water heater is only about 4 years old and this happened also about 6 months ago...Then I just cleaned thermo couple and all was good.....

The gas valve could have debris in it causing low flow. Shut the gas off, remove the valve and check for trash in the valve. If your home is old enough to have copper gas lines, chances are that the line is flaking off on the inside and clogging the valve.Comment
