I've got the same issue with poison oak. I've gotten into it twice this year and I'm apparently very allergic. Takes about 3 weeks to completely clear up so I look like a leper for several weeks at a shot. Now I'm the guy who mows and weed eats in long pants, long sleeved shirt, and gloves. Nice and cool. LolOriginally posted by slowbrick2 View Postit takes me 3hrs to do my yard.I have 3 different areas. The front is an acre, back is almost a third and kids area is 48 by 80 which we use a reel mower. We have 46" rider 22"pusher and reel. Weedeating is the worst. Have a hard time keeping poison ivy/oak at bay.

I've heard Ortho makes a product called "Brush B Gone" that will specifically take out poison ivy/oak/sumac. I haven't tried it yet but plan to soon. Supposedly Round-up makes a similar product.- Darrell

They stopped at 180' with 3-5gal/min. Not a ton of water output but they also got a 2500gal water storage tank. Thing fills all day/night and they use 1500 or so to water every couple days.Originally posted by Sean88gt View PostWhat is the water table at? That seems incredibly low/deep for TX.

My property has a really high water table. The geotechnical engineer suggested a couple 20' wells for me

I just bought a house on 1.75 acres and an older MTD 18hp 42" tractor was part of the deal. It took me nearly 4 hours to mow the entire place.

 The catch?

the back 1 acre hasn't been mowed in well over a month and there were places 3feet tall. So my lesson learned? Mow at least every other week."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"

My house is on an acre lot and takes me about an hour to do it all, mowing, weedeating, and edging. I guess total time spent depends on how much of that lot is occupied by a house or driveway, etc.Handyman, classic car and antique jukebox collector/restorer, and all around good guy.

Yea, there are a lot of beds on this property. That gives me less to mow, but more to mow around. It will also limit the size of the deck I end up buying for the mower. The big 1/2 acre section in the back will be the easiest to mow since there are no obstacles.

But I'm damn well looking forward to it

We were looking for about 2-5 acres and a nice little house. So we moved in with my buddy between houses and started helping him with his six acres. I am happy to say the .95 acre place we have a contract on is perfect.Originally posted by Vertnut View PostI'm leaving my 1+ acre yard, and I won't miss keeping up with this big bastard.Whos your Daddy?

heh, yeah I remember being young and knew I was not going to maintain more than 2 acres. Only ended up with 1.5 sooo, that's good and bad.Originally posted by kingjason View PostWe were looking for about 2-5 acres and a nice little house. Still trying to decide if people are sold on the ZTR mowers.

I will say I used mine a good bit of the weekend with a 15 gallon sprayer through several refills (pesticide as well as weed killer...etc..separate jobs of course) and had zero problem.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

I mowed the back acres with a ZTR and it was not a treat. I will say the brush hog works 100 percent better. Less bounce and my extremely pulled ab was screaming at the end.Originally posted by ceyko View Postheh, yeah I remember being young and knew I was not going to maintain more than 2 acres. Hell, just a 1/2 acre area we have where the treated septic stuff is pushed out sprinklers - it's always wet...mine just slides around there and if we go a few weeks - it's a real treat.Originally posted by kingjason View PostI mowed the back acres with a ZTR and it was not a treat.
