Thanks for replies . Looks like i was right its someting to watch out for . What yall think about a house thats 4000 sq ft but is sort of plain on the inside . Not really vinal floors and such but just plain tile . And not a whole lot of moulding trim and stuff . Just plain white paint all through th house . Seems odd to me that a house that big would just be so plain .

I would rather have a "mcmansion" in my neighborhood. They bring up your price per sqft. I enjoy being the smallest sqft house on the block. All the bigger homes drive mine up.

We have been looking, and we went into one of those. it was 2800sqft, 2 story. One regular size outside ac unit. I cant imagine the place cooling off in this summer heat.

If it feels like the right house, you can always do improvements over time. Adding granite or trim is a lot easier than adding 1000sqft

If they skimped on trim, paint, floors; where else are you not getting your monies worth?

Yes, you can always do your own trimout, paint and floors but you can't spell paint without pain.

Look at fixtures, insulation, windows, A/C system etc. and see where they saved a buck her and a buck there. That shit will add up in the maintenance up keep of the home.

Nate got us a deal on this one after we looked at over 12. The neighborhood, our garage and the layout fit. The kitchen was just cheap contractor spec counters etc. I won't know how well my upgrades really worked until we go to refi.
