I always use a vibrator to fill my voids. Its my understanding that the sidewalk belongs to the city but when something happens to it, the homeowner is responsible. That pipe head is my sewage drain I believe. I had to leave my house early, I hope they didn't pour the concrete while I was out. I plan on standing outside watching them work while wearing my hardhat, slacks and a button up shirt. I'm going for the osha look. I just have to find my clipboard. Seriously though, I want to ask them a whole bunch of questions before they pour the concrete,like if they're gonna drill some holes in the existing concrete for the new rebar to anchor on to.

might be a good idea not to tie -into the existing concrete. just add a expansion joint , that way it not all connected and allows only section to crack if the concrete des start to crack. sand has been used for subgrade and will need watered amd compacted to be preped for the new concrete. might be best to rip out the rest to see how much of the subgrade has failed.

Yeah, that's what the guys who removed the old concrete said. The guy who is paying for the work disagrees, of course .

Yeah, maybe too late but it may make sense to stop on the spot and get that other part repaired/rig it yourself and then let them finish. Hell, even ghetto stuff a couple dry bags of quickcrete in there would be better. Sad part is it LOOKs like they'd fit.

Who is the builder? I would've put money on him not even thinking about helping though.

Fox and Jacob. They bailed when the housing market went bad.We have like thirty empty lots out here. If it begins to sink again, I hope it does it real soon. I think they started shoveling cement in the gap because that truck was pouring for a while.

That would be bad ass if you're right and more than I'd expect from any builder THESE days. By good standards they are just making it right, but we all know how it is with these companies.

Not really. Look at the forms on the left side, they don't even line up. Then they brushed it in two different directions. I could go on, but it would serve no purpose. Exactly what you get when the "best price" is selected...

They had to make the top concrete slab even with the piece of wood on the bottom piece. I don't like the different brush strokes either.
