  • Help me pick a color for part of my kitchen.

The kitchen is the next project on my list. Usually I don't have a problem figuring this stuff out, but there are so many things being changed at once, I'm having a hard time with the wall color. My 1966 Ranch has a small galley style kitchen. I'm going to repaint the cabinets white, put in black granite counters and stainless steel appliances. Here is what a couple other parts will look like:

    door pull hardware:

Hinges will be exposed brushed nickle

Glass tile backsplash, only horizontal instead of vertical.

There isn't a ton of wall space, so none of the colors should be too overbearing. It's all most above the cabinets, and then one small wall with a door to the mud room. The overall feel of the house is tropical mid century modern come 90's alternative and contemporary.

I'm looking at three possible color choices:

A muted tan/sand color, like the rest of the house minus accent walls, would keep focus on the kitchen itself instead of the walls.

Bright yellow, make the room very much stand out, and I do have a couple of other bright accent walls in going with the 50's/60's pastel MCM look.

Very light grey, a little more industrial.

I'm leaning towards the yellow currently, though I might need to change the backsplash to make that look right. What do you guys think?

Light grey or Bright yellow. Me personally I would go with light grey to flow with everything smoothly. But yellow in a kitchen is very good too, just looks odd sometimes.

Yellow yuck, I guess so when Steve comes over and pisses in the corner it won't stand out.

I think Eric has a 500 feet restraining order on Steve.

                      grey...

but I can't stand warm colors in/on a house. I prefer relaxing cool colors

The lighter shade of blue in the glass tile.

sorry but yellow paint is a terrible idea for that color tile IMO.

A gray color that leans a little to the blue side is the way to go
