    Why limit yourself to grass? Plant some kind of ground cover ivy that will grown in shade.

    You can still hand water. Sounds like you need St. Augustine and lots of hand watering for a while.

    Getting grass to grow?

    I have a small front yard, on one side we have a shade tree and nothing grows underneath it, NOTHING. I've tried seeding, I've tried starting sod and even that died. Watering hasn't done anything either.

    Mckinney is currently on stage 3, water every other week. So any suggestions on what I can do on the cheap to get something growing?
