I need suggestions on a sound bar setup. The speakers on my TV are starting to buzz and I'm not ready for a home theater system yet. I'm not expecting to have balanced audio or theater quality sound but I've got to do something. I'm not wanting to spend more than $300.

Go to Costco....take my word for it....They sell the VIZIO S4251w-B4 DTS/Dolby Digital bluetooth enabled 5.1 system with wireless surround speakers and remote and it will rock your house. Friend of mine purchased it a couple months ago for his apartment and it sounds amazing for $279.00 and I just looked at Costco's website and they are offering a 50 dollar rebate on it now.

The subwoofer connects to the main unit wirelessly so you can put it in the rear of the room behind/under furniture. The rear speakers plug in to the subwoofer and can be wall mounted with built in slots on the rear of them..and the wires can be hidden. Yes...its not a 1000watt 7.1 system, however it sounds better than many "surround systems" that I've heard that used multiple speakers, receivers, and had a bazillion settings that have to be changed. The bluetooth, aux in, optical, and coaxial inputs give you multiple source options and it syncs up to cell phones quickly and sounds great.Originally posted by motoman View PostWireless? I have a boston tvee with wireless sub. I got it off woot about a year ago and love it. One HUGE complaint though is it uses wi-fi for the wireless part so if you have it in a weak wifi area it definitely kills it. when my TV is on my wifi was in and out in my bedroom. I added another router and fixed that problem but not always an easy fix for everyone. Aside from that I love the sound and it has great bass. think I got it around 150 or so but can't remember exactly.

No point in me recommending this system after this point....until you hear it with a good movie for yourself its a moot point. Just finished watching the latest Star Trek movie on this system (Vizio wireless 5.1 soundbar system) and am truly amazed at how good it sounds. Anyone with a large multi component system with large speakers and subs is going to talk trash about it because they spent so much money on what they have and they refuse to believe that such a simple system can sound almost as good. Given I personally own a very expensive Onkyo receiver with separate towers, surrounds, and nice Boston center channel...I am surprised how good it sounded. Actually shocked.Originally posted by Gasser64 View PostHow much better are these than just the stock TV speakers? VS surround sound, I mean. Do you really gain a whole lot
