What kind of weed is this and how do I treat/kill it? It is slowly taking over my yard and the chutes pop up almost over night, weekly.

I think that's Fall Panicum. I have a lot of this. I'll have to double check but IIRC it usually stays low since I mow regularly but if I skip a week or so, the tall stalks will sprout. Here's a link....

I think it's happening because it's a weed. I have this growing in Bermuda that's fairly thick around it...until the week takes over.

I've also tried a couple different types of crabgrass killer with no luck. It's a PITA but easy to pull up after it rains. Clean up any thatch around it and the grass will grow back pretty quick....well, maybe not so quick now that we're in entering Fall.

It is kr bluestem, spot spray with round up and let the st Augustine fill in

I'm no botanist, but I would assume spreading some weed and feed and watering would work. That kills a ton of different weeds.
