I've tried the latest and greatest from both Dish and Directv. Imho, both of their units suck. The interfaces are very slow, the DVR can't seem to remember that ive cancelled certain series, the search function cant find stuff that is right there in plain sight when you go to the guide, the list goes on.
I'm sure some of you have seen those aftermarket DVR/guide units that claim to be a lot better than the oem junk you get when you order new satellite service. But are they? Does anybody here own one? Or at least have some experience with them? The way I understand it, its kind of like a phone where you just swap your card over and give it a few minutes. Then presto, youre using the new unit with your current Dish service. I could be wrong about that though, its just what ive heard. Someone here will tell me im sure. Look forward to reading the replies
