  • Refinishing a tub

I had our tub refinished 2 years ago, it had a 5 year warranty, and it developed rust spots in the bottom after 2 years. I called the guy, he scuffed and repainted it. New rust popped up 2 weeks later, called him again, same result.

Is any tub refinishing method actually durable?

    Cast iron tub?

Best option will be a coating of some kind, rather than a paint which is actually somewhat porous and will allow moisture to get underneath. Porcelain is the best, but would likely be super expensive.

Problem will be finding anything to match the original porcelain. You could do a epoxy coating in the spots that need it, but will be very hard to blend with the porcelain.

You might give this a shot...

Prepping the metal surface and removing the rust will be key for any product to work and not let the rust bleed under the fix...
