option: try this from the back side, pushing against the normal pull of the pump.

Tried this with no luck, I need to figure out how to fix this problem, the bottom half of the 90 degree turn is broken off

Cut off the old 90,s build a manifold clean it glue it done deal. That's a 10 dollar fix. Remove all the dirt around those fittings use a wire saw
