So you're saying it's my a/c???Originally posted by ram57ta View PostThats like asking "whats wrong with my car?" without popping the hood. It could literally be anything....super cheap or terribly expensive. Only way to know would be to let someone look at it who knows a little bit about them.
Kidding. i was hoping there would be something like a fuse or switch that would trip before it toasted the whole thing.

Could be a burned power cable, burned motor, burned control board, or somerhing else. Might be a fuse on the control board. Roper brand washers and dryers are so cheap and pretty reliable that it doesnt make sense to repair them when I can get a new one. If you have one of the front loaders that cost several grand, a repair might be worth it. I would open the back and look for anything obvious if it is a cheap brand, but if you dont know for sure parts to troubleshoot with can easily get more expensive than a new washer.Originally posted by Craizie View PostSo you're saying it's my a/c???

Washer won't work now
When the outlet went bad and over heated, it may have damaged the male plug on the washer cord. Go to Lowes and buy a "Repair" type MALE plug. Cut off the old one and install the new one and see it it works. Worse case you are out a couple of bucks. Best case the washer works.

I would go a step beyond that and buy a replacement cord. Pull the back panel off of the washer, and you should have access to replace the whole plug.Originally posted by FastFox View PostWhen the outlet went bad and over heated, it may have damaged the male plug on the washer cord.
