I should have tried the leveling/fill in bare spots earlier, but did it today. Went to Lowes and bought 18 bags of dirt/cow shit mix, and it is really clean! The top soil I bought before was chock full of rocks, sticks, plastic, glass, you name it... This shit is really good! Filled in a bunch of low spots/bare spots, and threw some bermuda seed on it, tilled it in.

Still have more to do, but taking a break! I also have some high spots along the retaining wall where the neighbors dirt built up over the years, worst part in the far corner in the yard pick. It is raised up probably a good 8 inches.

Well fuck, that was a nice surprise. Decided to set the sprinklers to water a couple times a day in the areas I put the grass seed. Forgot about it and was digging out the area along the wall and BAM, zone 3 turned on. Shit, got a little wet, but the area already is muddy... Forgot to turn the system off for a couple days and manually water as needed.

I think it was like $2.90 or something close to that. The shit in the red/white bag that is like $1.50 is CRAP! They have a 50 lb bag of Black Kow dirt, but it is more for planting shit, not bulk quantity yard leveling, and is like $5.50 per bag. I definitely rate this dirt 5 stars!Originally posted by black2002ls View PostWhat was the cost/bag?

I have found that the cheap stuf is hit and miss. It depends on what they stock in your area. I can get pretty clean top soil in the cheap bags at lowes here in Greenville. Home depot's is full of debris.

Need some suggestions... I have a lawn treating service that's local. The yard was rough to begin with but the Dallis grass is pissing me off and they said they can't get rid of it. I've been reading mixed bs about how to get rid of it. I have some weed and grass killer that I can spray, but do I reseed or re sod that shit? Idk wtf to do.

Zemog said to use Celsius in a past thread, to get rid of Dallis grass. MSMA can get rid of it but you can't get it.Originally posted by Unicorn Jeff View PostNeed some suggestions... I had to pay for 2 extra treatments on top of my normal service to kill mine.Last edited by mstng86; 06-09-2016, 02:58 PM.

That's why I went with TruGreen... they can kill it and if you pay for the normal service you can call them out as much as needed for no extra cost to kill those weeds.Originally posted by Unicorn Jeff View PostNeed some suggestions... It took them pretty much the whole year, and I had to call them out just about every week... I did get pissed that they didn't take a proactive approach to it, and as such I give them that feedback as much as possible. That said, they did get it under control but it was really bad when they started and that shit is like zombie grass and just won't fucking die.Originally posted by Unicorn Jeff View PostMan they couldn't kill that shit either. I had true green for 5 months.Originally posted by stevoNot a good idea to go Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor on the power phallus.
