  • Motocross rider dies at Texas Motor Speedway

Never heard of him, but it sucks that another freestyle rider bit the dust while riding. I guess the sport is getting to a point where you may not walk away from a crash if you want to be competitive.

FORT WORTH -- A freestyle motocross rider died Sunday morning from injuries he suffered in a practice run in an event at Texas Motor Speedway, authorities said.

Police did not release any details on the crash.

An official with the Tarrant County medical examiner's office confirmed that a man died at TMS.

The rider's name was not officially released, but he was identified as Jim McNeil on a Facebook page for Boost Mobile, which had been his sponsor.

The accident occurred at the Boost Mobile display in the midway area in front of the TMS gates.

McNeil was taken by air ambulance to Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth hospital.

According to the Facebook page, McNeil had competed since 2000 and performed on the Boost Mobile team for seven years.

Boost Mobile rented the space for the motocross event this weekend, a TMS official said.
