Bout a year ago I purchased a 04 GSXR600 with 5000 miles for 3500. It has a little rash on the right side on the side fairing. Not really noticeable. Just gotta look around.

ANY of those would be MUCH better than a Ninja 250...although one weakness of the Bandit 600 is that its air-cooled (it will cook your legs in the summer). I would still take it 5 times over the Ninja 250.Originally posted by SNEAKY View Post

Wow thanks SNEAKY!Originally posted by SNEAKY View Post
I like that 07' red Suzuki, that looks nice and 55 mpg works for me!
What about a bike that has a salvage title? Stay away?
What about reliability? I work on my own cars and such, but I don't know much about bikes. Are they somewhat the same, just smaller engines?

There are several 1125Rs out there with 50k+ miles and relatively no problems. The others are basically a Sportster drivetrain, also very reliable. I'd stay away from the old carbureted ones and honestly other than the Ulysses none of them are comfortable to ride for long. Buell didn't go under btw, they had 5 bikes racing in Daytona last weekend. They just no longer have a huge corporation dictating their every move.Originally posted by 89stangGT View PostWhat you're thinking of is the Buells. Buell went under and they stopped making them. You can find some of their models pretty cheap, and they get good mileage, but arent very dependable from what I hear.
Seriously though, don't get a 250. You need the speed and handling to be able to avoid other traffic, there are idiots that'll try to kill you.

It has always concerned me everyone posting about how to get a low mileage bike... I've owned my latest for just about a year and already have over 13K miles on it. I've asked different bike shops about this and they say they see bikes with well over 50K miles on them that run just fine. What's with this "omg don't get byke wit moar than 5K milezes111" crap?

Bikes have gotten more durable and reliable just like cars over the last 20+ years. Not only that but the fuel and oils have gotten better, air filtration, cooling systems, etc... You don't have many way over jetted bikes running around with fuel dilluted oil any more.Originally posted by SS Junk View PostIt has always concerned me everyone posting about how to get a low mileage bike... I think its generally assumed for some reason that a bike with a few more miles on it than average is a bike thats ready to fall apart or leave you stranded. Mileage doesn't mean jack shit in the real world. I've seen beat to fuck weather beaten bikes that stay outside in the rain with 5 thousand miles on them that look like shit and probably run like it too. I've also seen bikes with 60 thousand miles on em that look and run like new. My 99' CBR1100xx that I ride almost daily when the weather allows is pushing near 80k miles and I wouldn't hesitate hopping on it and riding it to California and back right now. Its got its share of scratches and blemishes...but is well maintained, comfortable, and fast. The physical condition of a bike means FAR more to me than the odometer reading.
